Movies for the last few weeks

Over the last few weeks I’ve seen:

The Woodsman
The 40 Year Old Virgin
The Pilot’s Wife
In Her Shoes
Kung Fu Hustle
Wedding Crashers

The Woodsman is a confrontational movie about a pedophile (Kevin Bacon) and was very well done. It gives a deeper insight into the subject matter, and although there is nothing that can condone such behaviour, it is interesting to see things from a different perspective.

Elizabethtown was basically a rip-off of Gardenstate with bigger-name actors (and is nowhere near as good). If you’re in the mood for something quirky, see Gardenstate or Sideways instead.

Kung Fu Hustle, Wedding Crashers and The 40 Year Old Virgin were all very funny and if you want a laugh, any of these will hit the spot. Kung Fu Hustle was a really well-made, tongue-in-cheek martial arts movie with a 1940’s gangster feel. Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson play their usual characters in Wedding Crashers, so if you like those two guys, you’ll like this movie. As you could probably imagine, The 40 Year Old Virgin had a lot of male, sexual humour and parts of it were incredibly funny – all I’m going to say is “Do you know how I know you’re gay?… Because you haven’t seen The 40 Year Old Virgin yet”.

In Her Shoes, The Pilot’s Wife and Monster-In-Law were “Kristy Pics”. I quite liked In Her Shoes and Monster-In-Law, but found The Pilot’s Wife a little unemotional.
