Last Thursday night I attended another networking event (which you can read more about here)… It was a lot of fun and afterwards there was a small group of 5 of us that hung around and partied-on.
Over the weekend Kristy’s Dad (and family) came to stay with us. It has taken a few years for Kristy’s Dad and I to really start talking to each other – I don’t mean that in a bad way… we are just very different people and have very little in common to talk about, plus we’d usually only catch-up once a year, so there wasn’t a lot of opportunity to really open-up.
Anyways, things have changed over the last couple of years and now we’re chatting more. The conversations are still a little awkward at times, but a lot better than they were originally.
Even though the conversations have improved, it’s still a very interesting time when they come to visit. There’s Kristy’s Dad, his wife and their 3 kids… plus Kristy, Caleb and I all squeezed into a 2-bedroom townhouse. The place is the perfect size for us, but not so when there’s 8 people. Fortunately their visits are usually fairly short and usually involve interesting outings that we would not normally do (such as going to see greyhounds race).
On this particular visit I was feeling rather antisocial and didn’t feel like dealing with all the kids etc. so I didn’t get as involved with the group activities as I probably should have done (and now I’m feeling guilty for it). Despite this, it was still good to see them again and in retrospect, their stay was no where near as painful as I thought it was going to be.
